What to Expect During Your Go-live Date

Switching managed service providers can feel overwhelming. But your go-live date should be a celebration and not a headache.

One of the last tasks remaining during the onboarding process is the go-live date, or the date we officially switch from your old MSP to us.

But what does that day actually involve?

We keep the transition simple (no office shutdowns required), but there is a checklist of tasks we must perform to ensure you can operate safely.

Let’s talk about some of those major tasks, who will be guiding you and what kind of downtime you can expect.

Before the Go-live Date

Before the go-live date arrives, we want to do as much prep work as possible to minimize your downtime on the big day.

This includes removing the old MSP’s antivirus software, VPN or support app from your computers beforehand. Additionally, we handle software and subscription transfers (such as Microsoft 365) and add all employees and computers to our database, so we can track software for each computer.

Of course, we don’t want those computers to be vulnerable to phishing and other cybersecurity attacks, so it may be necessary to keep some protection software in place until the go-live date.

We tailor the process to your setup, so your employees get exactly what they need with minimal disruptions.

On the go-live date, we remotely install our support app and any other software we couldn’t add beforehand. If we can’t add our software remotely, our project engineer will be on-site, moving from desk to desk to make sure every employee has the necessary software.

What Happens on the Actual Day?

On the go-live date, we remotely install our support app and any other software we couldn’t add beforehand.

If, for some reason, we can’t add our software remotely, our project engineer will be on-site, moving from desk to desk to make sure every employee has the necessary software.

The support app takes roughly five to 10 minutes to install on each computer, and the engineer will stay to answer any questions. We want to make sure everyone can continue working as usual before we leave your office.

A support technician also will be on-site to help your employees with general troubleshooting.

If you’re unable to log into your Microsoft account or have issues with your line-of-business software, our team is there to help.

Lastly, having an engineer and a support technician on-site allows us to get to know your team and vice versa. Much of the communication moving forward will be through email or support chat, so we like to get in front of our clients so they know who they’re talking to.

Go-live Dates Should Be Exciting, Not Stressful
