Describe your role at Hungerford Technology
In my role, I focus on turning our plans into how we actually operate. My day-to-day includes working with our leaders to keep everyone aligned and moving in the same direction, improving the processes our teams rely on, and clearing roadblocks so people can get things done, with the goal of making Hungerford easier to work with for our clients and easier to work in for our people.
What is an accomplishment you are especially proud of?
I’m proudest of the times I’ve found a clunky process someone was stuck with and replaced it with something easier and more efficient, through technology, better process design, or both. Giving people time back never gets old.
Tell us a little about yourself outside of work
At this stage of life, I enjoy watching my kids’ athletic events and spending time in and around water. For as long as I can remember I’ve loved the water, from community pools, swim team, and water polo to lakes and boats, and I’m still a kid at heart near a lake or pool. On the rare Sunday with nothing on the schedule, you’ll find me floating lazily in the pool.
What’s a fun fact that most people may not know about you?
I’ve finished four full-distance Ironmans without running a single step of the marathon. My ankles negotiated a walking-only deal, and it turns out the finish line doesn’t care. If I can do it, anyone can.
What is the best IT tip or advice you would share with others?
Technology is a tool, so start with the problem you’re trying to solve, not the shiny thing. And keep leaning in a little at a time. Small, steady steps are much easier than big jumps to catch up later.
